Small Modifications/Additions
To Our Lance 915

The picture on the left shows a Thule cargo carrier mounted to the cross rails I installed.  The rails are 1" dia metal conduit crimped flat on the ends for bolting to the rails that came with the Lance.  The strap is to keep the lid on the Thule tight.  I also have a pair of cheap locking pliers that holds the front of the two halves tightly together.  I hate leaks where I store stuff!

The middle picture shows the platform for my dual band VHF ham radio antenna.  It should be about 19" on a side for the minimum ground plane surface, but I didn't want to sacrifice the space.  It works pretty well so it may be permanent.

The picture on the right looks like a dinner plate... and, it is.  We had  already been on the road about 7 hours when the XM radio station cut out.  We had turned north and the antenna wasn't working on the hood of the truck anymore.  While I was in a Wal*Mart store buying stuff to fix the leaks we had discovered during after a rain storm, I spotted this steel enameled dinner plate in the camping section.  I dried the roof off with paper towel, taped the plate down with white duct tape and placed the magnetic XM antenna in the middle.  The plate has been there since that day in October of 2006 and the tape is still holding up pretty well.  I took this picture while we were in North Carolina in February of 2009.  I would just glue the antenna to the roof, but it needs a metal base for good reception.  The blue plate might be permanent.

In the middle picture you can see the MaxxAir vents.  The one on the left is a powered vent over the bathroom.  The one over the main cabin (lower right) is a MaxxAir Turbo/Maxx Model 1200T and it's one of the best things we've added to the rig.  It's thermostatically controlled, reversible and moves a lot of air.
